“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” - George Orwell, 1984

It's no secret that on the eve of the insurrectionist's inauguration and the first day of the American TikTok ban, things are messy right now (and far too reminiscent of pre-WWII conditions and 1984). I may be a Canadian, but I can clearly see how these realities within one of the world's most powerful countries (not to mention our geographical neighbour and supposed ally) have global implications.

My position on Putin's Puppet/Elon's Envoy has been made quite clear in previous posts, so today I touch on the tragic "end" to TikTok. Although I mainly use TikTok for light-hearted laughs, it has been a major source of unfiltered information from first-hand sources. Through this platform, I have learned so much about the lives of Palestinians, the corruption that runs deep through the American government, and countless other important topics. This, and Zuck's quest for media monopolization, is what I believe is at the heart of the TikTok takedown.

The more I learn, the clearer it becomes that money truly is the root of all evil. Money buys control, which equals power, earning more money, and the cycle continues ad nauseam. We are sold this oligarchical dream by the threat of "foreign interference" and the importance of "free speech", when in reality it is domestic interference that is allowing for the propagation of propaganda and hate speech.

I no doubt sound to some like a nutty leftist with insane conspiracy theories, but the receipts check out, and I really wish that wasn't the case. I want to be wrong, not in the sense of ignoring or cherry-picking facts, but in the sense that it is somehow proven that our governments do care about us. Until I see those receipts, I will remain steadfast in my quest to highlight the importance of open discourse and the necessity for truth.

On that note, I leave you with this, a "skeet" of mine during one of my recent "can't sleep, must doom scroll" sessions:
