Drop the Mic: Adventures in Podcasting

Since the publication of my first novel, I've had the great honour of being interviewed for two podcasts: Tales of Fae and Folklore and Drinks in the Library.

For both shows, I recorded my audio from the comfort of my apartment. As a result, there were no fancy couches or behind-the-scenes makeup teams required. Maybe one day! (I'd have to be sure to request a minimal makeup look, however, as the only time I've been professionally painted was when I appeared on Etalk! over 10 years ago; they made me up to look like a runway model)

Tales of Fae and Folklore is a lovely podcast that discusses magic and mystery, both in literature and in real life. It's artfully prepared, produced, and published by Salina, a friend of mine and ex-coworker from the Public Library.

Right before AAiT was published, Salina reached out to me about doing a collab, and I jumped at the opportunity. It was so wonderful to catch up and to talk about my novel (that she actually read a very early version of). Queens supporting queens, am I right?

You can listen to my episode here.

Drinks in the Library is a podcast hosted by American Librarian Gigi Howard in which guests talk about a book near and dear to their hearts while sipping a drink inspired by the text.

I had a blast talking about Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy with Gigi, who prepared a Hungarian wine to sip during the recording of the episode. Why Hungarian wine? You'll have to listen to the episode to find out! Fellow fans of the book series may have already connected the dots.

My episode is available here.

Have I listened to my episodes? Nope. Will I? Maybe? Just like pretty much everyone else, I'm not a fan of hearing my own voice. And God forbid I hear myself say something dumb that I don't remember uttering in the recording. Despite this apprehension regarding the finished product, I had a lot of fun with both podcasts, and I would love to do more in the future. I can talk all day, every day, about things that I'm passionate about--which just so happens to be a ton of things. If you've got a podcast, don't hesitate to hit me up!
