Organized Chaos

I may be a digital hoarder, but gosh darn do I ever keep that hoard organized...most of the time.

It's well known that there's a whole lot of behind-the-scenes material that doesn't make it into your finished product. It still needs to exist, however, in order for your project to come to pass. For my trilogy, this mainly looks like a mass of birthdays. In my defense, every date that has any importance to the story has to be recorded, especially when time travel is involved.

While preparing to start developmental edits, I decided that I needed to update my notes on characters, timelines, and plotting. In the wake of writing draft one of Book 2, multiple characters had outdated names and various plot details had changed shape as they were fleshed out. While fixing these discrepancies, I also decided to change the years during which Book 2 and 3 are set. While this choice made me creatively happy, my strong distaste for all things math meant that I was otherwise quite disgruntled for a couple of hours as I made the adjustments necessary to make that change work.

For ease of ongoing access, I've put everything into a GoogleSheet. This will allow for faster referencing while writing and will hopefully result in more frequent updates.

Other than that, I have little else to report on the writing front. I really want to start writing Book 3, but that would be silly given my proximity to developmentally editing Book 1. I just need to let my brain breathe and take things one step (or one book) at a time.

Also, happy 10th birthday to Dinosaur! We've had her for almost 10 months now and she is such a delight. My sweet Buba Girl was supposed to be enjoying a Churu today, but she was under the weather earlier this week, so her special snacks will have the wait.
