Arcane: Animation at its Finest

Netflix has cancelled numerous programs of incredible caliber. I will be forever grateful that Arcane was not one of them.

A little background: Arcane is an animated show for mature audiences loosely based on a popular online multi-player game called League of Legends. While I have never played the game, I was drawn to the first season years ago purely because of the spectacular art style used in the show. I am a strong supporter of animation and am always excited to see studios recognize the incredible medium it is for storytelling beyond its use in children's media.

Outside of being visually stunning, the animation in Arcane is also richly detailed. The emotions of the characters are nuanced and complex with every movement and expression intentionally crafted. This reflects the spectacular writing and skilled voice-acting performances that operate behind the scenes and helps convey the massive amount of lore present in the intricately constructed world in which the story plays out.

Season 1 of Arcane was nothing short of incredible, and it's been a long wait, but the second and final season is now being released in parts, the second of three dropping today So far, so great. I really hope that more shows like this are produced in the future. The quality of our visual entertainment would be better for it.

Have you watched Arcane yet?

In other news, I'm now trying out a "post-every-8-days" pattern for this blog because I was finding the 6-day cycle a little difficult to keep up with.
