A Moment of Your Time

Although I’m in between edits, I’m still on hiatus as I’m also preparing for a move. However, I’m temporarily breaking my hiatus to make this important post.

Every day, the U.S. government further cements its fascist dictatorship. Things continue to get exponentially worse, especially with this week’s open defiance of the Supreme Court (so much for “checks and balances”) and the literal death camps at the heart of it all. There’s also the very real threat of Tangerine Palpatine declaring martial law this Sunday.

The only “silver lining” as of late is the recent decline of the “51st State” rhetoric. Unfortunately, it’s thanks to Alberta’s Danielle Smith and her ask to put the talk on pause in order to increase PP’s chances in the upcoming election. Not so much of a silver lining after all.

As it’s plain to see, Canada is not exempt from the chaos of the south, especially with our election underway. Our choice on April 28th is the most important of our lifetime. I will be voting strategically in this election, something I almost always have to do on account of living in a staunchly blue, rural county. It may feel that in situations like mine, our voices have little impact, however, it is more important than ever to exercise our democratic right. We can also use our voices to elevate our beliefs in other ways, such as I’m doing now, and am also doing with my book.

It is our responsibility to fight in the ways we can, for each other and for ourselves.
