An Intersection of Worlds

As the new year approaches, so too does the publication date of my debut novel. In anticipation of this, I spoke to my co-worker last week about the process of adding a copy of Alison's Adventures in Time to our Library's collection.

We discussed having me bring in a copy when they became available, but then she had me search the ISBN in Library Bound, the website we use to purchase materials for our collection. Lo and behold, there it was. My book.

Working at a small-town Library means that everyone behind the circulation desk wears a lot of hats. While I'm in the Programming and Marketing department, I'm also responsible for purchasing picture books. On this occasion, my co-worker, the head of Collections, allowed me to add a single YA book to my recent cart.

And that's the story of how I purchased a copy of my novel for my local Library.

It was a magical moment that I won't soon forget; a true intersection of worlds. The next step will be seeing my book on the shelves at work. That is going to feel so incredible, too.
